The Pinellas Park Mounted Unit was started in 2002 as a volunteer group.  The unit is comprised of both sworn and non-sworn members. Currently there are three sworn members and 10 civilian volunteers.  Each member must supply their own horse and equipment.  Uniforms are supplied by the agency.  All members must pass a certification ride to demonstrate their horse is capable of performing under adverse conditions.  Riders are assigned various duties throughout the year to include patrolling at festivals, football games, and concerts to conducting educational demonstrations and displays at local schools and churches.
